So You'd Better Be Ready!
No, really, it does! Disembodied hands spring out of Chevrolet print ads and ring doorbells! Its true, I swear! This film with a missing soundtrack blows the lid off of this whole conspiracy! And whos responsible, you may wonder? Why its Chevrolet Man, a robot-like apparition built of wire and bits of advertising ephemera! He places an evil curse upon all ads for the 1951 Chevrolet, and suddenly billboards start walking around! Print ads show up on peoples doorsteps and demand to be taken in and made members of the family! People become mesmerized by their tv sets! And heres the really scary part of it: the 1951 Chevrolet was not actually released until December of 2000! Take heed everyone! Lock up your children!! Theyre here already!! YOURE NEXT!!! [Ed. Note: Sorry about that outburst. The author has been taken away for reeducation and treatment. You may now return to your regularly-scheduled Chevrolet advertising.]

Chevy Advertising is coming for YOU!
Without the soundtrack, this could be a horror film. Print ads in the shape of human hands keep ringing the doorbell! Won't they ever stop! And that creepy transparent gnome appears with the strangest things growing out of his body! You can't escape the Chevy curse, not reading a magazine, nor at the theatre, nor listening to radio, nor watching TV. It's coming for you, and it's letting itself in your front door! Oh my god! No, No! NO! NO!!!!!
Ah but we are saved by the bell ... not that creepy haunted doorbell, but a Liberty Bell look-alike that breaks through the poster ad to let us know that luxury, power and freedom and just a Chevy away!
Oh, and the Kodachrome looks terrific!

The soundtrack to this film deteriorated and was destroyed by the Jam Handy Organization. Only the Kodachrome master pix survives, unless someone "out there" has a release print.

And so does beef.. (but that's another film)
One of the fun things to do is speculate what the films wpuld be used for, when you have no idea what you've downloaded. My obvious guess is that this film is what the Chevy company was showing their salespeople about the brand new 1951 Chevys coming into their lot. Actually, more specifically, it showed how they were going to PROMOTE it. You have plenty of great stock images here, from people opening doors, people watching tv's, and of course plenty of car riding. I almost got the impression that dealerships could put their own commercials together with the stuff that was in this reel. One big drawback though, is that this film is SILENT, where sound really would've helped.
